(English) Poland: Racism in Poland

Raahi from India met Paulina during their Erasmus exchange in Italy. The fell in love and Raahi decided to move to Warsaw to start their life together. He recalled the first Polish words he heard – those were only offensive slurs and racists expressions. The second day after his arrival he was attacked by a group of young men. In none of these cases the police decided to intervene. According to data by the Public Prosecutor Office, the number of racially motivated offences is increasing in Poland. In 2013 there were more than 800 such attacks, and more than 1600 in 2016.
