CHC participation in INACH General Assembly 2020

The Czech Helsinki Committee representatives participated on the 18th and 19th of June 2020 in the online General Assembly of the International Network Against Cyber Hate (INACH). The meeting was gathering all members of the network to discuss about INACH activities in 2019 and in the beginning of 2020. Through the sCAN Project, INACH monitored between the 20th of January 2020 and the 28th of February 2020 the adherence of the IT companies Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram to the Code of Conduct of the European Commission on countering illegal hate speech online. The project evaluation report was released on the 17th of June 2020 and is available online at: INACH also continues online trainings on counter speech for youth and law enforcement agencies. For the rest of the year, INACH plans to develop an online space training and participate in the next monitoring exercise of the European Commission of 2020 if it takes place. The Annual Conference of INACH is more likely to happen online and the publication of the Annual report is to come. In the discussion regarding the INACH’activities in the future, it was highlighted that media monitoring needs to be deepened. In addition to that, working groups could be created to work on specific topics. This would facilitate the dialogue among the members and create opportunities to find partners for projects.

INACH members also shared important news from their organizations and emphasized issues and campaigns they have been involved in. CHC briefly provided the summary of its activities in 2019.

LOVE-Storm, a German online learning platform for training and action against online hate presented a new project – European Online learning Platform. In this platform participants will be able to develop their own strategies and practice realistic interventions. Furthermore, participants will have access to the number of resources that will make easier for them to learn about different topics and limitate hate behavior.
