On November 18th, 2020, the Council of Europe celebrated the European Day for the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse. The goal of this day is to raise awareness about children sexual abuse and sexual exploitation. This year’s theme was: “Preventing risky behaviour by children: child self-generated sexual images and/or videos”, and partners were encouraged to organize activities or events on this theme or others related to the issue.
In this context, the Council of Europe organized on November 12th, 2020, a webinar on the theme in the context of its Project “End Online Child Sexual Abuse @ Europe”. Speakers were specialists on children’s rights from the Council of Europe. They discussed the challenges around child sexual images and/or videos of children made by children themselves, and the necessity for a comprehensive sexuality education to prevent risks linked to child self-generated sexual images and videos.
